Perry, represented by her record company, Custard, filed a lawsuit against WMG and its label imprint, Atlantic Records that distributed the album starting from 2004.
Perry's lawsuit that was filed on Tuesday, February 4 in a Manhattan court, claimed a breach of contract where she is supposed to receive million of dollars in royalties. The suit is now not only seeking the royalties to be paid but also a punitive damage costing $5 million.

Wanna know who's on the top spot of US pop album chart for this week? It's Rascal Flatts again. The country trio reigns the album chart for the third straight week with their latest set "Me & My Gang" sold another 143,000 copies for the week ended Sunday April 23rd, 2006.
Meanwhile, the hits compilation "NOW That's What I Call Music" is at No. 2 with another 143,000 copies. Securing the 3rd position on the Billboard 200 is Walt Disney Records' soundtrack to the Disney Channel musical "High School Musical" which scores an additional 116,000 copies in its 15th week.

Once again set to hold Ivor Novello Awards this year, British Academy of Composers and Songwriters has announced the nominees of the prestigious event and it was Coldplay who turned out to lead the nominations. Receiving three nods, the band has been nominated through "Fix You" in the category of Best Song also "Speed of Sounds" which will challenge James Blunt's hit single of "You're Beautiful" in those of PRS Most Performed Work and International Hit of the Year.
Other nominees include notable names like Robbie Williams and Natalie Imbruglia who both obtained one nomination as well as Kaiser Chiefs and Athlete who compete in the same category of Best Contemporary Song. In a recap of the Top 10 albums on the US pop album charts for the week ended Sunday, there's something interesting that people could obviously see. It's the new chart-topper which debuts on its very top position.
The top spot on the Billboard 200 surprisingly is seized by Atlanta rapper T.I., whose album "King" sold almost 522,000 copies, such amount enough to push last week chart topper Prince's "3121" aside to No. 8 with only 75,000 copies. Checking in at No. 2 in the meantime is Tim McGraw's "Reflected: Greatest Hits Vol. 2," which sold 242,000 copies.

British band Coldplay has topped the 2005's global charts with their album "X&Y" sold 8.3 million copies around the world, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) reports. Such attainment leads the music act to top some other famous musicians, like Mariah Carey whose album "The Emancipation of Mimi" sold 7.7 million to be at 2nd position.
Top the 2005's global charts at No. 3 is 50 Cent's "The Massacre" which has been sold 7.5 million worldwide. The Black Eyed Peas' "Monkey Business" (6.8m) is 4th, followed by "American Idiot" by Green Day which sold 6.4 million copies. Talk is heating up about James Blunt dating Tara Palmer-Tomkinson shortly after the singer was spotted spent the night with her after she flew to see him in New York earlier this month.
