INXS Looking for Supporting Acts

Australian rock group is giving a chance for unsigned bands that want their career launched. By supporting the group's UK tour, the virtually unknown bands will get the chance to be "discovered".

Interested bands are welcomed to apply by linking their MySpace page or YouTube video featuring audio or video clips. INXS' official site posted, " All submissions will be reviewed and the winning bands will be contacted in the coming weeks". There is one condition though; the chosen ones will need to find their own way of transportation to UK. For more information visit inxs.com.

Stars Considered to Line Up Michael Hutchence Film

The idea to make the movie biopic about star Michael Hutchence, who committed suicide in 1997, has been opposed by the star's family. Though, the project keeps going on with Hutchence's brother, Rhett Hutchence is said to be heavily involved.

Rhett is working on the biopic alongside British filmmaker and former INXS promo video director Nick Egan. Actors considered to star in among others are who is being lined up to play Michael Hutchence. Meanwhile, the likes of , , , and are being considered for the roles of Paula Yates and Bob Geldof.

With a new lead singer J.D. Fortune, who was chosen by the viewers of the CBS reality series "Rock Star: ," the music group repeats their previous success to be included on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Their single "Pretty Vegas" gives the Australian-based rock act the highest debut of its career at No. 37. What an attainment.

Apart, the band is reported to keep their promise to invite "INXS: Rock Star" runner-up Marty Casey to support their upcoming US tour. Won't miss the great opportunity, Casey will take his band The Lovehammers with him on the tour. He says "Being the opening act is really the best possible scenario for me. I've been with my band for 15 years and now I get the best of both worlds."

already complete with their new line up J.D. Fortune. Next the music group will perform their first major concert. They will, on October 17, join reunited modern rock act Gang of Four and rock group Dredg, performing at the opening of a new Virgin Megastore in Hollywood.

In the meantime, INXS also is working on its first album with Fortune, titled "Switch" which is due November 29 via Epic. The original INXS lineup, meanwhile, will be paid homage with the 20-track concert album previously unreleased in America, dubbed "INXS: Live at the Barker Hangar." The show will be available exclusively for download at all digital retail outlets, with four, including iTunes and Yahoo!, offering additional bonus material, beginning October 4.

Australian band ending their long journey looking for the right person to fill the right place in their formation. And they come up with J.D. Fortune, publicly declared him as their new singer on CBS' "Rock Star: INXS" Tuesday, ending 13 weeks of American Idol-style competition among 15 performers.

"He's very passionate," said bassist Beers about the Canadian singer. "He's got a lot of energy. And we feel comfortable about what he's going to bring to INXS and appreciate what we are offering him more than anybody. He's now an equal member of the brain trust of INXS performance-wise and in the studio. And that will unfold as we go along."

Wanted: A Lead Singer

The onetime hit-making 1980s band has inked a new deal with Epic Records. "We're very happy to be joining the Epic family and can't wait to get back into the studio to record again," so guitarist Andrew Farriss said in a press release Thursday.

To begin the new chapter, CBS has on Monday started airing Rock Star: INXS, a reality competition which is aimed to deliver the band a new singer to replace Michael Hutchence, who committed suicide in 1997. Later on, the eventual winner will perform with INXS in the live concert finale, record an album with the band and then front a subsequent INXS world tour playing more than 100 cities. The album and tour are slated for later this year.
