Bad Meets Evil is a hip-hop duo consisting of Eminem and Royce da 5'9". They first met in 1997 at a concert in Detroit, and released their debut single "Nuttin' to Do" in 1999. They later went their separate ways following "a reluctant feud", but reconciled soon after the shooting of their mutual friend and fellow rapper Proof in 2006.

In April 2011, Eminem announced his plan to return to studio with Royce and release a new music together. "Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio," the Slim Shady said in a statement. "At first we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are."

Royce chimed in, "I'm excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now. We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we're working on the 'Monster' that will be the Slaughterhouse album. #TeamShady."

"Hell: The Sequel" was released across the United States on June 14. It's led by single "Fast Lane" and features collaborations with Bruno Mars and Mike Epps. They showcased their music together at the live event during Bonnaroo Music Festival.

A week after the album release, the Slim Shady and Royce debuted at the first position on Billboard Hot 200 with modest 171,000 copies. This was for the umpteenth time Eminem sitting at the penthouse of the weekly rundown, but marked Royce's first-time ever ruling the chart.
