Leslie is excited with the news that a reporter from the Pawnee Journal is going to come out and do a story about her park project. Leslie also finds this an opportunity to grab a bite with Mark and pick his brain on how to handle the media.
Shauna is sent out to cover the story of Leslie's project and is introduced the rest of the team, including Anne and Andy. Leslie excuses herself out of nervousness and returns just as Shauna interviews Andy about his fall into the pit, but things don't go as planned when Andy starts talking about being black-out drink when the fall happened.
Leslie sends emergency text messages to Mark for help. He finally shows up and Leslie begs him to meet with Shauna and help smooth over the interview. One glance at the attractive reporter and Mark agrees to meet with her. Moments later, Shauna tells Leslie she wants a tour of the pit in the morning and wants Leslie to be the one to give it.
The next morning, Leslie is waiting for Shauna at the pit and is surprised when she sees Mark drop Shauna off. Not only is Shauna 15-minutes, late, she is totally unprepared and wearing the same clothes she was wearing the day before. It takes a Leslie a few moments, then she realizes, Shauna hooked up with Mark the night before.
An upset Leslie decides to confront Mark about having sex with Shauna. She lectures him about how unprofessional his actions were and she cannot tolerate that kind of behavior from someone on her subcommittee. Mark catches Leslie off-guard when he announces his resignation from her subcommittee.
After hearing about some of the negative quotes about the pit that Mark gave Shauna during their night together, Anne orders Mark to cleanup his mess. He confronts Shauna and asks her to not print anything that was said while they were in bed. She agrees, but only because her and Mark are romantically involved.
Mark clears the air with Shauna that they were only a one-night stand. Later on, Mark fills Leslie in on the story and apologizes for sleeping with Shauna and recognizes his mistake. Leslie invites him back on the subcommittee and he accepts and together, they vow the park will get made.
