Three time capsules containing the Beatles star's music will be buried on his 70th birthday and reopened thirty years later.

AceShowbiz - The legacy of late The Beatles legend John Lennon is set to live on for decades to come - three time capsules containing his music will be buried to mark what would have been his 70th birthday. Three capsules will be filled with Lennon's music from the post-Beatles era and stored at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio during a ceremony on October 9.

Devotees have been given until September 15 to send in birthday wishes, music and artwork for inclusion in the capsules, which will be reopened in 30 years' time on the centenary of the icon's birth. And the project has been given the seal of approval from Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, who is "delighted" to support the idea.

Lennon was shot dead outside his New York apartment in December 1980.
