AceShowbiz - Eden Muñoz has reached a major milestone by securing his 10th No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart with his latest single Mi Yo De Antes. The song climbed from No. 4 to No. 1 on the April 11-dated ranking, fueled by a 20% increase to 7.6 million audience impressions across U.S. regional Mexican radio stations during the tracking week of March 27 to April 2, according to data from Luminate.
Eden Muñoz expressed his gratitude for the achievement, stating, “I am very happy that this is my 10th No. 1 on Billboard. These past four years as a soloist have been quite dynamic. The No. 1s are like a big hug to the entire team that is giving their all to ensure the message of these songs reaches, as much as possible, those who need it most. Thank you, Billboard, and thanks to the whole team.”
Mi Yo De Antes was released on February 5 through EMC/Sony Music Mexico/Sony Music Latin and has gradually risen in popularity since debuting at No. 29 on the chart. It entered the top 10 within three weeks and hit the summit during its seventh week on the chart.
The song resonates deeply with Eden Muñoz, who shared that its lyrics capture the sensation of feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about one’s path. He highlighted how the track serves as a shared emotional experience, noting, “I realize that it's not just me going through this stage, but many people who have connected with this song and have found it to be a catharsis.”
With this No. 1, Eden Muñoz surpasses his previous tie with El Fantasma and joins an elite group of solo artists who have achieved 10 or more No. 1 hits on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart since its inception in 1994. The current leaderboard of artists with the most No. 1s includes:
Christian Nodal (17), Alejandro Fernández (14), Gerardo Ortiz (14), Carin León (12), Eden Muñoz (10), El Fantasma (9), Julion Álvarez y Su Norteño Banda (9), Marco Antonio Solis (8), Vicente Fernández (7), Alfredo Olivas (6), and Xavi (6).
Additionally, Mi Yo De Antes has also risen from No. 8 to No. 3 on the overall Latin Airplay chart. It is only the third soloist track this year to reach the top three, following Gerardo Ortiz’s “Échame El Grito” (No. 3 in January) and Danny Ocean’s “Corazón” (No. 1 in February).
This single serves as the lead release from Eden Muñoz’s upcoming album, titled 8847, which is scheduled to come out in August. Eden Muñoz described the album as a reflective project tied closely to the significance of the number 8847. He also teased collaborations on the album, including a track called “Osadía” featuring Cristian Castro, as well as partnerships with artists Fonseca and Yuridia.
As Eden Muñoz continues to build on his solo career, Mi Yo De Antes stands as a testament to both his growth as an artist and his ability to connect with audiences through honest and relatable storytelling in regional Mexican music.
