AceShowbiz - Kenan Thompson is approaching an extraordinary milestone on Saturday Night Live, becoming one of the longest-serving cast members in the show's history.

During an appearance on the podcast Breaking Bread with Tom Papa, Kenan Thompson revealed a conversation with a fellow cast member, likely Seth Meyers, who pointed out a remarkable achievement that Kenan Thompson will reach in the near future. According to the discussion, in five years, Kenan Thompson will have been part of the show for 28 seasons, which represents half of Saturday Night Live’s 56-year run.

Reflecting on this, Kenan Thompson expressed surprise at the milestone, saying, "That's a pretty awesome milestone... and it's not that far away." The podcast host, Tom Papa, responded with awe, highlighting the significance of having been part of half the show's entire existence.

Currently, Kenan Thompson leads as the longest-tenured cast member on Saturday Night Live, having completed 23 seasons as of Season 51. This puts him well ahead of the second-longest cast member, Darrell Hammond, who spent 14 seasons on the show.

Other cast members are also approaching impressive tenures. Colin Jost is in his 13th season, and Michael Che, co-host of Weekend Update, is in his 12th. However, rumors of their possible departures have surfaced repeatedly at the end of recent seasons. Additionally, Mikey Day is in his 10th season and may surpass Darrell Hammond in the future.

Kenan Thompson began his journey on Saturday Night Live in 2003 and was promoted to repertory player in 2005. When asked by Papa if he started at age 12, Kenan Thompson clarified he began at 25 and will be 48 by the end of the current season.
