AceShowbiz - Reggie Bannister, best known for his role in the Phantasm horror film series, is currently confronting significant health challenges as he battles Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Due to the progression of these illnesses, he now requires full-time care, which has led to urgent financial concerns.
Reggie Bannister's wife, Gigi, shared with TMZ that his limbs have grown stiff, leaving him nearly immobile. She herself is dealing with medical issues, making it impossible for her to continue providing the necessary physical support at home. As a result, Reggie must transition from in-home hospice care to a professional care facility that can offer 24-hour assistance.
The couple faces a major hurdle, however, as the cost for this new facility is approximately $5,400 per month. Reggie had hoped to enter a Veterans Affairs-supported facility in Big Bear, California, which would have been covered financially, but unfortunately, there are no beds currently available there. This lack of VA assistance means the financial burden is much heavier than initially planned.
To help cover medical expenses and hospice care, a friend set up a GoFundMe campaign for Reggie Bannister. The fundraiser has raised nearly $47,000 so far, approaching the original $50,000 goal. However, due to the increased costs of the new care facility and the absence of VA support, Gigi says they will need to raise more than the initial target.
Reggie Bannister is currently on a waitlist for placement at an appropriate care center. Meanwhile, Gigi, who has been married to Reggie since 2001, remains devoted to him. They were introduced by actor Michael Berryman in 1995 and have been partners ever since. She describes Reggie as her “one true love” and is determined to support him through this difficult time.
