AceShowbiz - Kim Kardashian has denied under oath in Los Angeles Superior Court any involvement in planning the release of her 2007 sex tape with Ray J. The denials come amid ongoing legal disputes surrounding the tape, which was released as Kim Kardashian, Superstar.
According to a report from Daily Mail on March 12, Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, submitted declarations to the court refuting claims that they orchestrated the tape’s release for financial gain or publicity. In her filing submitted on March 10, Kim stated, "[Ray J's] claim that I had a plan with my mother and others to release a sex tape, defraud the public, and file a 'fake' lawsuit against the porn company that released it to 'create buzz' is a lie."
Kim Kardashian further emphasized that neither she nor her family is part of any criminal enterprise, nor have they engaged in racketeering activity or profited from such actions as alleged by the defendant. Her mother Kris Jenner echoed this sentiment, strongly denying any role in masterminding the tape’s release. In her declaration, Kris said, "Ray J's insinuations that [I] masterminded the sex tape...and its release were 'absolutely false.' In no world would I ever be involved in any way, shape or form of peddling tapes of my daughter like this."
These recent court filings are part of an ongoing legal battle. Last October, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner filed a defamation lawsuit in response to allegations made by Ray J that they conspired with producers from Vivid Entertainment to commercially release the sex tape. In turn, Ray J countersued, claiming that their defamation suit violated a non-disclosure agreement linked to the tape.
Following the filings, Ray J publicly responded to the declarations made by Kim and Kris. He accused them of lying under oath, telling TMZ, “[Kim and Kris] completely lied about everything,” and added, "[it's] the worst thing you can do."
Adding to the confrontation, Ray J’s mother, Sonja Norwood, took to Instagram with a lengthy message addressing Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. She accused the pair of dishonesty in their court statements and expressed her frustration over the public treatment of her son in this matter.
Sonja Norwood wrote, "After reading the declarations from Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian, and reading their recent statements circulating, including reports published across multiple media outlets regarding the tape, I am no longer going to sit back and watch my son be 'dogged' on social media over this matter when @rayj and I, Kris and Kim, and many others know the truth."
She directly questioned Kris Jenner, saying, "And Kris, momager, you say you did not orchestrate the commercial release of the tape. Then who did?"
Sonja voiced her support for her son's quest for the truth and vowed to continue pursuing the matter, no matter how long or difficult the process. She concluded her statement with a firm declaration: "And if that truth journey must continue all the way to the doorstep of God's judgment, then so be it."
Before the renewed legal drama, Ray J had previously commented on the ongoing financial aspect of the sex tape. In a 2022 interview on Comedy Central’s Hell of a Week with Charlamagne Tha God, he revealed that the tape was still generating revenue, although he did not specify the amount.
The controversy remains unresolved as both parties maintain their opposing narratives in court. The unfolding legal battle continues to attract significant media attention, underscoring the high-profile nature of this longstanding dispute.
