The Harlem rapper revealed that the legal action was intended to draw attention to his situation after he felt he was being overlooked when requesting a favor in return for his previous contributions.

In his explanation, Cam'ron stated that he never originally intended to pursue legal action but felt it was necessary to communicate his frustrations. “I never ever wanted to do anything as far as a lawsuit was concerned,” he shared. “This is exactly what happened, just so you know, and I don’t really care anymore; it was just more to get his attention.” He emphasized the importance of keeping one’s word, stating, “To me, being a man is keeping your word,” and acknowledged the busy schedules both he and J. Cole maintain.

Cam'ron recounted how he had previously fulfilled a favor for J. Cole when he provided an intro for the rapper's album The Off-Season. “He needed it within 24 hours. Luckily I was in my home studio… I called my engineer over, knocked it out and gave it to him,” he explained. He noted that he had communicated his need for a verse in return, to which J. Cole agreed, saying, “Cool.”

He further detailed the recording process for his feature on the track “Ready ’24,” stating it was completed in just 20 minutes after meeting with J. Cole and Cordae in a New York City studio. “I knocked that sh– out and went off about my business,” he remarked. However, when he later requested a verse from J. Cole, the response was less than straightforward. Cam'ron humorously recounted that J. Cole told him, “The chakra ain’t right right now, you know the moon gotta align with the stars. When I write I put my all into it.”

In response, Cam'ron challenged J. Cole to prioritize their agreement, saying, “OK, let’s put your all into it. Give me that first.” He expressed his frustrations, reminding J. Cole of the times he was able to accommodate requests in a timely manner. Cam'ron recounted that he was asked to meet in the studio rather than receive the track remotely, which he complied with, yet found himself without reciprocity.

Despite initial agreement for a future collaboration, when Cam'ron attempted to schedule an interview with J. Cole, he felt he was met with yet another round of delays. “He agreed to it because he had a project planned, but when I reached out to schedule the interview, I was given the runaround once again,” he said. This pattern of communication led to the decision to file legal action as a last resort to secure the attention he felt he deserved.
