Darren Hayes, iconic singer of the '90s duo Savage Garden, faced a terrifying accident after a fainting spell led to a severe fall that broke his jaw in half and shattered his teeth.

AceShowbiz - Mere two months after the tragic loss of his mother, vocalist Darren Hayes experienced a life-threatening accident. The Savage Garden singer recounted waking up in a pool of blood with intense pain in his head and jaw.

After fainting and collapsing three times shortly after getting out of bed, Hayes sustained blunt force trauma so severe that it snapped his left jawbone and shattered nine of his teeth.

"I could have died if I landed in a different position," Hayes revealed on Instagram, emphasizing the severity of his fall.

Since the incident, the singer has undergone emergency reconstructive surgery, where surgeons inserted a titanium brace to reconnect his jawbones. His mouth has been wired shut for a minimum of eight weeks to allow proper healing.

The root cause of the fainting spells remains unknown as medical professionals continue to investigate. Hayes mentioned that multiple conditions, including neurological and heart issues, have been ruled out so far.

He vehemently clarified, "No judgement to those who partake but I do not take drugs or drink alcohol - this was a complete shock."

Despite the extensive recovery process ahead, Hayes remains hopeful. "I just wanted my fans to know why I'll be out of action for quite some time. After my jaw heals it's a long road to rehabbing my jaw function and then of course replacing my shattered teeth. I'm so grateful to be alive and every day I'm getting stronger," he assured his followers.

Adding emotional weight to his physical recovery, Hayes has been grappling with intense personal challenges including a brutal divorce and the recent deaths of both his mother and father.

"After surviving a brutal divorce, losing my Mother, finding out my father died and then this I have had moments of deep sadness. But I am a survivor and I'll come back strong," he affirmed.

Savage Garden, widely celebrated for hits like "Truly Madly Deeply" and "I Knew I Loved You," became a quintessential part of the '90s music scene. While his bandmate Daniel Jones retired from music following their split in 2001, Hayes pursued a solo career.

His devotion to his craft, coupled with the love and support from fans, continues to fuel his determination to overcome these recent adversities.
