AceShowbiz - Emmy-nominated actor Rob Lowe found himself at the center of an amusing case of mistaken identity recently. While leisurely walking near Rodeo Drive, Lowe was pointed out by a Hollywood Beverly Hills Tours guide as John Stamos.
"This is John Stamos," the guide proudly announced, mistaking the "St. Elmo's Fire" actor for the "Full House" alum. The guide's enthusiastic misidentification was quickly corrected by Lowe.
"What the f**k?!" Lowe mouthed to a pal who recorded the incident. He didn't miss a beat as he approached the tour bus filled with camera-wielding fans and humorously asked the passengers, "Okay guys, am I John Stamos?" to which the crowd responded with laughter and a robust "No!"
Lowe then advised the guide, "You gotta get better at your job." The guide defended himself, stating, "It's usually about having fun, you know; I didn't expect to run into people." Realizing the guide's playful intent, Lowe backed off, "Oh, I see! Okay." The interaction ended with the guide thanking Lowe for his "cool energy."
Lowe shared the video of the encounter on Instagram, tagging his son with the caption, "@johnnylowe am I being Punk'd?" The post sparked playful comments from fans and celebrities alike. "I love you John Stamos!" actress Kimberly Williams Paisley quipped while Holly Robinson Peete jested, "He needs to be fired immediately."
Lowe and Stamos have both played along with the ongoing joke about their similar appearances. On "The Drew Barrymore Show", Stamos jokingly claimed he's the "better-looking" version of Lowe, who responded with a playful resignation, "I'll take it."
In the end, it's incidents like these that remind us that even Hollywood's biggest stars can have lighthearted, relatable moments. And for the tourists on that bus, they certainly got a true Hollywood experience.
