AceShowbiz - Internet trolling is an unfortunate but unavoidable part of modern celebrity life. When Brandon Sklenar, 34, was referred to as a "Walmart Glen Powell" on an MTV Instagram post, he displayed his quick wit with a flawless comeback.
"Who doesn't love a bargain?" the actor quipped. The response was praised by fans, earning Sklenar new supporters for his witty demeanor.
The comment came amidst the promotion of Sklenar and Meghann Fahy's new thriller, "Drop", directed by Christopher Landon. The film, which follows a widowed mother named Violet (Fahy) on a horrifying first date with Henry (Sklenar) involving threatening anonymous messages, has captured the interest of thriller enthusiasts. A deadly game unfolds as Violet is forced to confront escalating threats to her and her daughter's lives.
Sklenar has also been making waves in Hollywood with major roles in hit projects. Besides starring in the "Yellowstone" spinoff "1923", he appeared in "It Ends With Us", alongside Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. He played Atlas, a childhood friend and love interest for Lively's character.
Building on his momentum, Sklenar took on the role in "Drop", eager to dive into a more complex character. "It was after It Ends with Us, and 1923 [season 2] had pushed for some reason. So I was eager to keep working when Drop came along, and it just seemed like a great opportunity and a great acting exercise,†he explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
A recurring theme in Sklenar's recent projects has been domestic violence -something deeply personal to him. "Someone very close to me has been dealing with it for many years... Perhaps, by the grace of God, it keeps finding its way into my sphere as a theme because it's a theme in my own life," he shared.
Sklenar is set to appear in another gripping thriller, "The Housemaid", with co-stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
As he continues to take on challenging roles that speak to his personal experiences, Sklenar's star only seems to be rising further. With his career on an upward trajectory and a knack for handling online negativity with grace, Brandon Sklenar is undoubtedly an actor to watch.
