Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's recent nominations have stirred controversy, with Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher leading the charge. Here's what you need to know.

AceShowbiz - Yesterday, Oasis was among the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2025. Alongside notable names like Mariah Carey, Outkast, and The White Stripes, the Britpop legends are in contention for one of music's highest honors. However, frontman Liam Gallagher isn't exactly thrilled about the potential accolade.

"RNR hall of fame is for WANKERS," Gallagher wrote on X, responding to an Oasis fan account that shared the nominee list. When asked by a fan what he'd do if Oasis won, Gallagher cheekily replied, "Obv go and say it's the best thing EVER."

This sentiment is consistent with Gallagher's previous jabs at the Rock Hall. Last year, he dismissed their initial nomination, stating, "F*** the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS LG."

In a 2024 interview with The Sunday Times, Gallagher criticized the inclusion of non-rock artists, "As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: 'do me a favor and f*** off.' "

"It's like putting me in the rap hall of fame, and I don't want to be part of anything that mentally disturbed. Besides, I've done more for rock n' roll than half of them clowns on that board, so it's all a load of bollocks."

This year's nominees include Mariah Carey, Phish, Outkast, Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper, Joy Division / New Order, Soundgarden, the White Stripes, Joe Cocker, Bad Company, Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, and Mana. The inductees will be announced in late April, and the annual ceremony will take place in Los Angeles this fall.

Despite Gallagher's disdain, Oasis' nomination has reignited interest in the band's upcoming reunion tour, their first in over a decade. The tour has generated immense hype and caused frenzy in ticket sales, comparable to shows by Taylor Swift and Beyonce Knowles.

Adding to the drama, Ticketmaster's cancellation of thousands of resold tickets for the tour sparked outrage. "I don't make the rules," Gallagher responded when grilled about the situation. "We're trying to do the right thing. It is what it is, I'm the singer. Get off my case."

While Gallagher's harsh words leave a contentious cloud hanging over their Rock Hall nomination, the band's legions of fans remain eager. Whether Oasis will accept the honor, should they be inducted, keeps the music world on edge.
