Craig Conover confesses on 'Southern Charm' that he bought an engagement ring at Paige DeSorbo's request before they eventually called off their relationship.

AceShowbiz - Craig Conover, 36, shed more lights into his breakup with Paige DeSorbo, providing clues as to why he felt blindsided by their split. In a preview of his Bravo show "Southern Charm," he shared his plans to propose to her.

"She asked me to buy her a ring, and I did," Conover confessed to his friends Austen Kroll and Shep Rose. He added, "I'm gonna propose." However, the engagement never came to fruition as their relationship came to an end in November 2024, revealed in a voiceover in the trailer.

The breakup was announced publicly in December 2024 by DeSorbo on her Instagram and later discussed in more detail on her "Giggly Squad" podcast. She also clarified infidelity allegations levelled against her, "I never, in the three years that I dated my ex-boyfriend, I never physically cheated on him, emotionally cheated on him."

DeSorbo also insisted she gave Conover enough time to process their split before she made it public.

Conover admitted that the breakup was a shock, "This has all been very, very unexpected to say the least. But I guess life has to… I gotta start living again, whatever that looks like, whatever my new normal looks like, I have to start."

While Conover felt their split "came out of nowhere," their friends saw signs of underlying issues in their relationship as Kroll mentioned, "There were cracks," while Rose remarked, "It doesn't sound like he was driving this bus."

Despite their plans for future, such as Conover's dream of living on a farm with DeSorbo, their differing priorities seemingly became a sticking point. Conover expressed his desire for children and a settled lifestyle, which clashed with DeSorbo's more pragmatic approach.

"If you said to me right now, 'We need to have a baby or I'm leaving.' You'd have to leave," she bluntly told Conover in one episode.

The long-distance nature of their relationship, with Conover based in Charleston and DeSorbo in New York City, further complicated their dynamics. An insider noted that "logistically it was never going to work out long term," and many friends were unsurprised by their split.

As "Southern Charm" continues to air on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo (with episodes available the next day on Peacock), viewers will witness the unfolding drama, including the impact of the breakup on both Conover and DeSorbo as well as their friends. The season promises more revelations and emotional moments as the cast navigates their personal and relational challenges.
