Following backlash over her pray for heavy rain, Lil Kim returned to social media to double down on her comments, insisting that rain would be useful to quell fires.

AceShowbiz - Amidst the raging fires in Los Angeles, rapper Lil' Kim was criticized for her social media comments wishing for a "monsoon" to hit Los Angeles. Despite her well intentioned hope for the rain to help extinguish the blazes, some fans found fault in Kim's prayer.

Fans argued that the strong winds accompanying a monsoon could spread burning embers, worsening the situation. They also highlighted the risk of mudslides and toxic chemical contamination from heavy rainfall after the fires.

Kim responded on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, January 16, doubling down on her wish for a monsoon. "What's happening is devastating and what LA really needs right now is rain—so what's the issue? Doesn't everyone understand that a monsoon is heavy rain?" she wrote and posted a Google definition of a monsoon in an attempt to justify her comments.

At the height of the crisis, nearly 200,000 people were evacuated, though many have since returned home. Firefighters have made progress in containing the major fires in Pacific Palisades and Altadena.

Fires have already claimed the lives of at least 25 people and left 31 more missing in their wake. The situation gradually comes under control, with major blazes in Pacific Palisades and Altadena being curtailed, but the loss of countless homes left the Californians devastated.

"Been sending strong prayers for LA and everyone affected by the fires. This is heartbreaking," Lil' Kim previously wrote.
