AceShowbiz - In light of the raging Palisades fire, Camille Grammer, 56, is haunted by memories of the Woolsey Fire that destroyed her Malibu home in 2018. With winds reaching 100 mph, the blaze wreaked havoc, leaving 1,643 structures in its path.

"I haven't really been able to sleep well. I keep thinking of my friends that have lost homes," she says to PEOPLE.

Seven years earlier, Grammer faced a similar nightmare when firefighters arrived at her home but were unable to save it due to insufficient water pressure. "They couldn't save the house," she recalls. "They said, 'We don't have water pressure,' and they apologized."

Despite the devastation, firefighters prioritized saving belongings, such as vehicles and artwork. "They just did it themselves, which was really nice," Grammer says.

As residents of the Palisades evacuate, Grammer empathizes with their loss. "My heart is broken over the loss of communities and lives. It's awful," she says. While her current home remains safe, she knows the situation can change rapidly.

Grammer praises the selfless efforts of firefighters. "They put their lives on the line all the time," she says. "The infrastructure needs to be rethought," she adds, emphasizing the importance of water supply pumps to combat wildfires on hilly terrains.

Having endured the loss of a home, Grammer offers encouragement to those affected. "Life is more important than your home," she says. "You can rebuild a home or find a new place to live, but a life you can't replace."

She emphasizes the vital role of community in times of crisis. "It's really important that neighbors and communities come together to help each other out," Grammer says.
