AceShowbiz - Fans were shocked when an article reporting Steve Harvey's death emerged online on Tuesday, December 17. A new report suggested that the shocking false report is the result of artificial intelligence error.
According to The Wrap, an article titled "Steve Harvey Passed Away Today: Remembering The Legacy Of A Comedy Legend" was first published on Trend Cast News on Tuesday. Further making it worse, the article, which was presumed to be generated by AI, was later aggregated on Newsbreak for a future publish date of December 19.
The death hoax unsurprisingly sent shockwaves to the fans. "I woke up to this Steve Harvey passed 'news' and just reading the headline, I knew it was bs but bro," one person wrote alongside a screenshot of the push notification. "This NewsBreak app just posts/shares anything. I have a love hate relationship with this app. They want to be credible but allow whatever."
A second wrote, "Gmorn'n did anyone else wake up to Steve Harvey passed away news and it was a spam or virus link." A third fan, meanwhile, noted, "Nearly had a stroke when I got news that Steve Harvey passed away."
Steve's representative has yet to comment on the matter. However, the 67-year-old star has been active on his social media accounts, including X, Facebook and Instagram, throughout Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, the comedian reflected on his holiday season spent with his wife Marjorie Harvey. "Throwing it back to Christmas moments filled with love, laughter, and reflection. Grateful for my rock, my queen, Marjorie. Every year, every memory, every blessing," the "Family Feud" host wrote, sharing a holiday portrait with his wife.
This wasn't the first time Steve became the subject of fake death rumors. Back in October, the website Snopes shut down false claims that the comedian had died in a car crash. He was also falsely reported to be dead in November and March 2023.
