AceShowbiz - Karen Huger, a cast member of "The Real Housewives of Potomac", has been found guilty on five out of six charges related to a DUI incident in March 2024. The charges include driving under the influence (DUI), negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, and failure to notify authorities of an address change. She was acquitted of reckless driving.
According to witness testimony, Huger was driving her 2017 Maserati in Potomac, Maryland, when she struck a median and crosswalk sign at an intersection before continuing on and colliding with a parking sign off the roadway. She was not injured in the crash, but received multiple citations at the time.
During the trial, an emergency medical technician testified that Huger swayed on her feet, refused treatment, and verbally lashed out at the first responders. Body camera footage showed Huger slurring her speech, cursing at the police officers, and declining a field sobriety test.
Huger's defense presented two witnesses, including her cousin, who testified that the reality star was "emotionally distressed but did not sound impaired when they spoke on the phone shortly before the crash."
Huger's attorney, A. Scott Bolden, released a statement expressing disappointment in the verdict but respecting the jury's decision. He indicated that they will be pursuing an appeal. Huger's sentencing is scheduled for January 29, 2025, and she faces up to two years in prison.
