The announcement was made by her representative, Ryan Tresdale, on Thursday, the same day Bravo released the reunion seating chart where Huger's absence raised eyebrows among fans.
"Karen made the important decision to enter a private recovery program, so [she] was unable to attend the reunion taping today," Tresdale told the Daily Dish. "We stand behind Karen as she embarks on this meaningful journey and are proud of her for taking such a significant step forward in her personal growth."
Huger's decision came just weeks after her conviction on five charges, including DUI and driving while intoxicated, stemming from a high-speed crash in March 2024 in Potomac, Maryland. The crash involved Huger's Maserati impacting multiple street signs and a pole, drawing significant media attention and culminating in a contentious trial.
The police body cam footage revealed Huger's intoxicated state, where she struggled to stand and slurred her words, admitting to officers, "I'm drunk." Her bizarre behavior continued inside the police station, where she made several strange remarks, including, "I'm Thomas Jefferson's concubine."
Tresdale reiterated the support for Huger, stating that the choice to enter a recovery program was fully backed by her team and family. Her attorney, A. Scott Bolden, also mentioned plans to appeal the verdict, despite expressing respect for the jury's decision.
Huger's sentencing is scheduled for January 29, and she faces up to two years in prison.
