Despite his previous statements about retirement, Jim Carrey emphasizes that he is not ready to leave the industry completely as his next movie 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' is coming out soon.

AceShowbiz - After announcing his intention to retire in 2022, Jim Carrey has clarified that he is not fully stepping away from acting. The 62-year-old actor told Comicbook.com, "You can't be definite about these things... I said I'd like to retire, but I think I was talking more about 'power-resting.' "

Carrey explained that he enjoys his "quiet life" and painting passion but remains open to projects that inspire him. "As soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with and stuff, it just - things tend to change," he said.

While Carrey joked at the London premiere of "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" that he returned to acting because he needed the money, he later clarified that he was not exclusively motivated by financial reasons. "It's not really about the money. I joke about the money..." he said.

Carrey also expressed his willingness to reprise his roles in sequels to "The Mask" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" if the right ideas were presented to him.

"I would be open to playing the Grinch again thanks to the advancements in CGI," he said. "If we can figure out 'The Grinch'... The thing about it is that, on the day, I had to do that with a ton of makeup, and I could hardly breathe, and it was an extremely excruciating process. The children were in my mind all the time. 'It's for the kids, it's for the kids, it's for the kids.' And now, with motion capture and things like that, I could be free to do some other things."

Carrey's decision to "power-rest" is not uncommon among older Americans, many of whom are unretiring out of financial necessity or a desire to stay active. The average retirement age in the US is 63, but the sudden transition to endless leisure time can leave retirees feeling restless. As a result, some older Americans choose to return to work or find new ways to engage with their community.
