Gracie Abrams made waves with her 'Saturday Night Live' performance, earning praise from Barbra Streisand and sparking a conversation about nepotism in the entertainment industry.

AceShowbiz - On December 16th, legendary singer Barbra Streisand took to Instagram to express her admiration for up-and-coming musician Gracie Abrams. Streisand shared a clip of Abrams' performance on "Saturday Night Live" and wrote, "I just saw a wonderful new singer named GRACIE ABRAMS... And it turns out she's the daughter of my friend JJ Abrams!"

JJ Abrams is a renowned filmmaker and composer known for directing several "Star Wars" films and co-creating popular television shows like "Lost" and "Alias." Abrams' mother, Katie McGrath, is a former political aide who currently serves as co-CEO of Bad Robot Productions, a production company founded by Abrams.

Streisand's revelation about Abrams' parentage sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling out the singer as a "nepo baby." Nepotism, or unfair advantage granted to relatives in positions of power, is a common topic of discussion in the entertainment industry.

Abrams' parents' significant influence in Hollywood has raised questions about whether she benefited from their connections. However, in a previous interview with iHeartRadio Canada, Abrams emphasized that she kept her songwriting separate from her parents.

"I definitely kept them so far out of it," she said. "Songwriting, for me, was always just a personal outlet to deal with my experiences... Now, I'm very lucky. I'm super tight with them and I tell my mom everything."

Despite the online backlash regarding nepotism, Abrams has also received praise for her talent and accomplishments. She performed two tracks from her album "The Secret of Us" on "Saturday Night Live" and has recently toured with Taylor Swift as an opening act.
