AceShowbiz - Donald Trump Jr. has broken his silence after he and Kimberly Guilfoyle are reported to have pulled the plug on their engagement. The eldest son of president-elect Donald Trump has spoken lovingly of his ex without specifically confirming their split.

In a statement issued to Page Six on Friday, December 13, Don Jr. made it clear that he remains supportive of the former prosecutor despite hinting that they went separate ways. "Kimberly and I will never stop caring for each other and will always keep a special bond," he said in the statement.

Speaking of his father nominating Kimberly as the U.S. ambassador to Greece, Don Jr. said, "I could not be more proud of her and the important role she'll continue to play in my father‘s administration." He also fiercely defended his ex against rumors about her, firing back, "Anyone taking baseless and petty fake news cheap shots at her in the tabloids are just embarrassing themselves."

The 46-year-old went on gushing about the television news personality, "She's been an undefeated prosecutor, national TV news star, a leader of the MAGA movement and close advisor to the president. The people of Greece are getting an absolute star and now the whole world will see it more than ever."

He continued of Kimberly's role in his father's new administration, "Since the very beginning, no one on Team Trump has worked harder than Kimberly to help elect and reelect my father - and no one deserves this ambassadorship more than she does."

Don Jr. released the statement after he sparked dating rumors with Bettina Anderson following their alleged dinner date. They were seen holding hands in public after reportedly spending two hours inside Buccan, a swanky Palm Beach restaurant.

"Bettina and Don have been together for a few months, and are super cute and happy together. It's just a natural fit - everyone is happy for them!" a source told Page Six after their pictures surfaced online on Tuesday, December 10.

As to why Don Jr. and Kimberly called it quits, a source claimed, "Don and Kimberly haven't been getting along over the past year." The source added, "They get argumentative at Mar-a-Lago in front of people. Nothing crazy, but you know when a couple is fighting. They bicker in public."

Another source revealed Don was the one who pulled the plug on the engagement, noting that "the breakup was amicable and so is their relationship today." The source explained, "They just had different goals."
