AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey has announced the cancellation of two more Christmas shows due to the flu. On Friday, December 13, the singer took to social media to reveal that she was still unwell and would not be able to perform at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and the UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York.
"Newark and Belmont - I wish I had better news but unfortunately I'm still sick and have to cancel the shows tonight [Dec. 13] and on Sunday," Carey wrote on Twitter.
The cancellations follow Carey's previous announcement that she was suffering from the flu and had to cancel a concert in Pittsburgh hours before it was scheduled to begin.
Carey expressed her disappointment at having to cancel the shows and thanked her fans for their support. She stated that she has only one show left on her tour, scheduled for December 17 at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. As of now, the Brooklyn show is still scheduled to go on as planned.
The news of Carey's illness comes amid a busy time for the singer, who is known as the Queen of Christmas. Her hit holiday tune, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," recently returned to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart, and she received a special celebration to mark the occasion.
Despite the setbacks, Carey remains optimistic and has expressed her excitement about her annual Christmas tour. She has promised her fans that they can expect new songs and duets, along with some surprises.
