The 'Chasing Time' hitmaker shares a copy of a cease and desist letter sent to the British rock star by her legal team, demanding a public apology as well as a $1 million settlement.

AceShowbiz - Azealia Banks is taking Matty Healy's recent threat against her seriously. Despite his previous apology and retraction, the American rapper/singer has slapped the British artist with a cease & desist letter.

On Sunday, December 8, the 33-year-old shared via her account on X, formerly known as Twitter, a copy of the cease & desist notice sent to The 1975 frontman by her legal team. In the letter, she demands a public apology as well as a $1 million settlement from the 35-year-old singer.

"Your attacks against my client's professional reputation, your overt racial epithets, and your most recent threats of physical violence against my client have been well-documented since you published them worldwide online," her attorney Wallace E. J. Collins III wrote in the letter, noting that Banks saved screenshots of the posts Healy has since deleted.

The letter continued to read, "Your removal of the damaging attack posts and your acknowledgement that your reaction was inappropriate does not undo the damage, but rather constitutes evidence of an admission of guilt by you." He called Healy's actions "wrongful, bad faith and malicious" and said they have "seriously damaged and will continue to damage my client."

But "rather than commence costly and time-consuming legal action," Collins suggested that all parties "try to resolve such matters amicably without the need for court intervention." He added, "We hereby demand that you immediately cease & desist from making any further threats or defamatory statements against my client and demand is hereby made for (1) a prompt public apology to my client (in a manner to be mutually agreed upon) and (2) compensation for damages in the amount of $1,000,000.00 in full settlement of this matter."

Collins confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that his office sent the letter to Healy on Saturday night. Healy has not publicly responded to the legal notice from Banks.

The legal issue between Banks and Healy stemmed from their heated exchange on social media after the former criticized Charli XCX's appearance. Defending his friend and fellow artist, the rocker said, "Azealia you seem to have a blind spot when it comes to your 'reads'. All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people. I think this makes you jealous cos you're so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro."

After Banks doubled down on her opinions, Healy clapped back, "And on that point if I see one little s**t bag twitter barista say ONE thing about my Gabi, EVER, I will use my mental illness to full affect and I will dox and f**k you up I'm so over pretending to have different standards online coz it's 'not real'. Well, a f**kin slap is."

Banks further irked Healy by mocking his fiancee Gabbriette. He then responded, "Azealia I know you think your life is some episode of the library is open but I am not the one. Talk to me like that I'm not gonna side eye you at an awards do I'll f**king slap you so hard I'll get a Guiness world record for the highest a rat some b***h calls a wig has ever flown."

Healy immediately backtracked on his threat though, saying, "Nah I can't be saying I'm gonna hit a girl that's insane I'm sorry. You just can't keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it's really hurtful gets me well defensive." He added in a separate tweet, "Nah fr I was just trying to match your vibe im scared now im sorry bro, I was just sticking up for my mates. Im not tough lol."

Banks, however, wasn't going to let it slide, saying on Wednesday, December 4 that she's suing him for threatening to slap her. Healy later expressed his regret in another tweet, admitting, "Guys I don't have the right kind of intelligence / emotional maturity etc for social media I literally just end up saying stuff that immediately regret etc. I'm actually just gonna stick to music cos I'm good at that. Having manic episodes on twitter at 35 is kinda pathetic."
