AceShowbiz - In an interview with Marie Claire, Meghan Markle revealed her and Prince Harry's understated Thanksgiving plans, emphasizing the importance of family and creating a welcoming environment.
"We're always making sure we have something fun to do," said Markle. "Like any other family, we enjoy a great meal and then play games. Someone brings a guitar, and we have a great time."
The Duchess of Sussex noted that the holidays have become even more enjoyable since her children, Archie and Lilibet, have grown older and can fully appreciate the spirit of the season. "Every year it gets better," she said.
Despite their low-key approach, Markle and Harry have had some special guests join their Thanksgiving celebrations. One year, feminist icon Gloria Steinem visited the family.
"I think it's important to make sure there's always room at the table for your friends who don't have family," said Markle.
This Thanksgiving, the Sussexes will celebrate at their Montecito, California home, where they have lived since stepping back from their royal duties in 2020. They will be joined by Markle's mother Doria Ragland who has a guesthouse on the property.
While the Sussexes are staying in the United States this year, they reportedly received an invitation from Princess Diana's family to spend Christmas in England. "It's far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it," said a source.
Markle's fondness for family and inclusivity extends beyond Thanksgiving. She emphasized the importance of creating traditions and cherished memories for her children, including preparing special dishes and leaving carrots for reindeer on Christmas Eve.
