Viewers take to social media to share their mixed response after the Academy Award-winning actor hilariously mispronounced the country music star's last name.

AceShowbiz - Viewers who watched the 2024 Country Music Association Awards had a field day, thanks to Jeff Bridges' hilarious blunder. The actor, who was on hand to present an award in the Entertainer of the Year category, mispronounced Morgan Wallen's name.

The 74-year-old Hollywood vet received thunderous applause after he was introduced on stage. "Ahh, man! I should come here more often, man!" he said, briefly sounding like his iconic "The Big Lebowski" character, after receiving the warm welcome.

"Pretty wild!" he went on gushing about the prize-giving event. "It's the biggest award of the night, so let's not screw around, OK?" he said ironically, just seconds before he broke his own rule.

After running through the nominees, Jeff announced Morgan as the winner. But instead of pronouncing the singer's last name as "Wallen," he mispronounced it as something closer to "Waylon."

"Morgan’s not here, man, Morgan couldn't make it tonight, so I'm gonna accept on his behalf," the "True Grit" star said after bungling the surname pronunciation. "Let's hear it for Morgan!" he continued as 2024 CMAs co-hosts Luke Bryan, Peyton Manning and Lainey Wilson rushed the stage to relieve him at that moment with some closing comments and jokes about their bespoke CMA host T-shirts.

"Oh my gosh, congratulations, Morgan. Wow. I'm so excited for you!" Lainey said as she grasped his award.

The co-hosts' jokes, however, failed to distract fans from Jeff's awkward failure. Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, social media users shared their mixed response to the hilarious blunder.

"Who the f**k is Morgan Waylon?" a confused person asked, as another similarly reacted, "Who the hell is Morgan Waylon?" A third joked, "I've been calling him Morgan Waylon for years!"

"Jeff Bridges calling him Morgan Waylon is objectively hilarious," a fourth commented, while another penned, "Why he say Morgan Waylon tho..." Someone enthused, "I am shocked. Morgan Waylon is certainly a choice for EotY."

"I love that Jeff Bridges just mispronounced Morgan Wallen's name," another wrote. Meanwhile, one user theorized that Jeff was "a little tipsy" during the presentation.

Morgan may be or may not be aware of Jeff's mistake in pronouncing his name. The former "The Voice" contestant did not attend the ceremony, which was held on Wednesday, November 20 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, although he led the nominations with seven nods and ended up with one win. Chris Stapleton was the biggest winner with three wins.
