AceShowbiz - Pharrell Williams made sure to calm down a protester who shouted at him. However, the "Happy" hitmaker's attempts to hug were rejected by an angry animal rights activist, who heckled him outside a GQ party.

On Thursday night, November 14, the 51-year-old singer/record producer, who has served as Men's creative director for Louis Vuitton since 2023, was out and about in Los Angeles, California. He was making an appearance at the GQ's Men of the Year Party that was held at the Chateau Marmont.

When Pharrell was outside the building and making his way into his car, a group of people, including the protester, surrounded him. The protester yelled, "What type of person still uses fur?" In return, Pharrell calmly said, "I don't. God bless you."

The protester went on to tell Pharrell, "Yes, exactly. 'Cause you had nothing else to say." At that time, Pharrell was walking towards the protester, who pointed his finger at the musician and shouted, "Because you know what you're doing is wrong."

Pharrell reiterated "God bless you" many times without saying other words. When he was standing close enough in front of the protester, he opened his arms and asked, "Can I have a hug?" In response, the protester stated, "No! F**k no! Absolutely not!"

Pharrell then turned around and asked someone, "Did you get this?", apparently asking if the interaction was documented in a video. After the unidentified person said yes, the singer bursted into laughter and walked towards his car. Meanwhile, the protester yelled one more time, "Look at this! Look what you're supporting! Animals are skinned alive! If you laugh about it, what's the matter with you?"

The unexpected moment was documented in a video that made its rounds online. In the short clip, it could be seen that the protester was holding a big sign featuring a horrifying picture of a dog being skinned alive.
