AceShowbiz - In one of the most eagerly anticipated announcements of the year, PEOPLE magazine crowned John Krasinski as the Sexiest Man Alive for 2024. "The Office" star and "Jack Ryan" actor shared his candid and humorous reaction to the news, stating he thought he was being "punked" when he found out. "Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I'm being punked. That's not how I wake up, thinking, 'Is this the day that I'll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?' And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me," Krasinski said during a video interview with the magazine.
Angela Kinsey, Krasinski's former co-star from "The Office", expressed her joy and disbelief at the news. "I love John. He's such a good person and I'm so happy for all the success he's having. But I think of him like my little brother, so this is like your little brother getting Sexiest Man Alive! You're kind of like, 'What is happening?' But he's such a cutie," Kinsey told Entertainment Weekly, hinting at a possible humorous text exchange in their Office group thread to celebrate his new title.
While fans had mixed reactions regarding the announcement, with some questioning why actors like Glen Powell were overlooked, Krasinski's wife Emily Blunt expressed her excitement, albeit with a touch of humor regarding future household chores. "There was a lot of joy involved," said Krasinski. "But I do think it's going to make me do more household chores but I am willing to take the cons with the pros to be honest with you."
On the other side of this glamorous contest was 29-year-old country star Shaboozey, who took to Twitter to jokingly express his disappointment. "Should've been me...but the people have spoken," Shaboozey tweeted, adding a congratulatory note to Krasinski with a single-tear emoji. Despite not landing the "Sexiest Musician" title, which went to Harry Styles, Shaboozey had plenty to celebrate. His hit "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" is currently in its 17th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and he has secured five Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year.
"GRAMMY NOMINATED BOOZEY!!!!!!!! I LOVE Y'ALL, THANK YOU @RecordingAcad !!!!" he exulted on social media. Shaboozey also shared his enthusiasm in a Billboard interview, reflecting on his journey and the power of manifestation. "The most exciting part about all this is being able to listen to your music and be like, 'Damn, I'm not capping anymore,' " he said. " 'I really got that Grammy that I talked about in that song I made in 2014!' Manifestation, man. Now I can really talk my s**t!"
Despite the mixed bag of triumph and near-misses, it's evident that both John Krasinski and Shaboozey have plenty to celebrate as they continue to charm and entertain diverse audiences worldwide.
