AceShowbiz - Timothee Chalamet has become a renowned movie actor today, but he faced challenges earlier in his career due to his body type. As he promotes his upcoming Bob Dylan film "A Complete Unknown", Chalamet recalled an agent telling him he needed to gain weight.
This feedback, although hurtful at the time, resonated with Chalamet's understanding of Bob Dylan's journey. Dylan also faced resistance as he aspired to be a rock star amidst the saturated music scene of the late 1950s.
Instead of aiming for the mainstream action roles like those in "The Maze Runner" or "Divergent", Chalamet found his path in critically acclaimed indie films, such as "Call Me By Your Name", "Beautiful Boy", "Lady Bird" and "Little Women". These smaller-budget projects allowed him to explore personal stories and develop his distinct style.
"I found my way into these very personalized movies," he said. "This is where I found my rhythm, my confidence, my flow."
Chalamet's experiences have shaped his approach to acting, particularly in his preparation for "A Complete Unknown". He spent five years working with a harmonica coach and retraced Dylan's steps through Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Chicago. However, he emphasized that the film is not a definitive biography but rather an interpretation of Dylan's life.
"This is interpretive. This is not definitive," he said. "This is not fact. This is not how it happened. This is a fable."
"A Complete Unknown" will release in theaters on Christmas Day and is expected to generate Oscar buzz. Chalamet's journey from facing body criticism to becoming a "big movie actor" serves as an inspiring tale of resilience and the pursuit of personal expression.
