AceShowbiz - Kim Kardashian faced backlash for an ill-timed promotion for her brand SKIMS. After the 2024 presidential election ended with Donald Trump's victory, the 44-year-old launched a lavish SKIMS holiday campaign, which didn't sit well with Internet users.
The ad video featured Goldie Hawn as well as her children Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson. Kate and Oliver also brought their respective kids and partners. Kate was joined by her fiance Danny Fujikawa and their 6-year-old daughter Rani. She's also joined by her sons Ryder and Bingham from her previous relationship.
As for Oliver, he took his wife Erinn Bartlett in with him. Also joining them were their children, Wilder (17), Bodhi (14) and Rio (11). In the video, the famous family looked adorable while donning matching holiday-themed sleepwear.
On the SKIMS website, the adult Unisex Sleep set costs $120. Meanwhile, the Long Sleep set retails for $90 with the Baby Onesie and the Kids Sleep sets are priced at $28 and $38, respectively.
The clip saw them happily dancing around a grand dining room. They excitedly passed around desserts, plus mingling in a kitchen fully stocked with lobster, shrimp and other fancy fare in a luxurious set design.
Upon catching wind of the campaign, Internet users slammed Kim for posting the video amid the election. "Girl please. Completely out of touch," a fan wrote on Instagram on Thursday, November 7. Another added, "Love you kim, but this is not the time."
A third person suggested Kim to "read the room." One other noted, "Tone deaf as always." Someone else reminded "The Kardashians" star, "Meanwhile most people can't afford Groceries."
The criticism came after Kim landed in hot water for promoting her son Saint West's Fortnite channel hours after Trump was declared as the winning candidate in the 2024 presidential election. In a now-deleted Instagram Reels, the former wife of Kanye West encouraged her 395 million followers to follow the 8-year-old's Fortnite, writing, "Please subscribe to my son's Fortnite channel on YouTube he will pick the best players to be in his clan."
While some people thought it was Saint who posted the video without Kim's consent, it didn't stop the criticism coming at the mom of four. One user commented, "Kim, there's people that are dying," referencing her sister Kourtney Kardashian's famous line. Another suggested, "Babes, read the room."
"Nah this post wins Most out of touch human award lol," another commented. Someone else, meanwhile, questioned, "Why would you invite people on the internet to interact with your son at his age? Come on Kim."
