AceShowbiz - Queen Camilla has canceled several scheduled engagements this week due to a chest infection. As per Buckingham Palace's announcement, the 77-year-old royal has been advised by her doctors to take a short rest.
"Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest," a palace spokesperson stated. "With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal."
Queen Camilla will miss the Field of Remembrance event opening at Westminster Abbey on Thursday, November 7 where she will be replaced by Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester. She will also cancel her attendance at King Charles III's reception for Olympic and Paralympic athletes on Thursday evening.
The announcement comes shortly after Queen Camilla and King Charles III returned from a royal tour of Australia and Samoa. The royal family has faced health challenges this year, including King Charles's cancer diagnosis and Kate Middleton's cancer treatment.
The King resumed his duties on Tuesday, including an audience with Qatar's new British ambassador.
Despite her illness, the palace expressed hope that Queen Camilla will recover in time for the upcoming Remembrance weekend events, including the Festival of Remembrance and the commemorative service at the Cenotaph.
The palace has emphasized that there is no cause for alarm and that Queen Camilla's plans to attend weekend engagements indicate a relatively minor illness.
