AceShowbiz - Katharine McPhee and David Foster, who celebrated major birthdays this year, have embraced the notion that getting older is a good thing. The couple, who shares 3-year-old son Rennie, turned 40 and 75, respectively, but hasn't made a fuss about their milestones.
"I welcomed my 40s, and David didn't have any conversations about, like, 'Oh, I can't believe I'm 75,' " McPhee told PEOPLE. "We're both very similar in this way. We're kind of cut from the same cloth. It's like we sort of just accept life as it comes, and we're not fighting getting older, because it just keeps getting better."
Foster echoed his wife's sentiments, saying, "She's fine, and I don't even think about it either. You know, I'm just groovin'."
McPhee and Foster credit therapy as a key to their successful marriage. "A good therapist. Or that you just have someone in your life or another couple in your life that is helpful when there's discord, disagreements," McPhee told E! News.
The couple first met in a recording studio years before starting their relationship. This unique perspective has given them a deep understanding of each other's creative process and made their musical collaborations even more rewarding.
"That's truly where we know each other the best," McPhee said. "Knowing the ease, and the greatness, and the way he works and just always gets the best thing out of people."
Foster's 75th birthday was marked by a star-studded concert at the Hollywood Bowl, where McPhee performed alongside other renowned artists. "It's a big number. It's exciting," McPhee said of her husband's milestone celebration.
The couple's positive outlook on aging extends to their parenting style. McPhee and Foster have different approaches to disciplining their son, but both emphasize understanding and mindful parenting over traditional methods.
McPhee and Foster have a blended family, with Foster having six other children from previous relationships. Despite their age difference, the couple has found common ground in their love for their family and their shared commitment to growth and happiness.
