During his appearance on 'The Louis Theroux Podcast', the 'Saltburn' actor shuts down the accusations that he's an 'absent father' for his 2-year-old son Brando, whom he shares with ex Alyson Sandro.

AceShowbiz - Barry Keoghan has reacted to claims that he is a "deadbeat dad" to his 2-year-old son Brando. During his appearance in the Tuesday, November 5 episode of "The Louis Theroux Podcast", the "Saltburn" actor shut down the accusations he received online.

"There's a lot online. If I didn't have tough skin or the strength, I wouldn't be sitting here," Keoghan shared. "Of course, it's going to affect me being a father when I had no blueprint to take from. People just read that [as] laziness and go, 'Oh, that's no excuse to be an absent father.' "

The 32-year-old star, however, insisted, "I'm not an absent father." He later noted that people loved to use his son, whom he shares with ex Alyson Sandro, as a means to criticize him.

"People love to use my son as ammunition or whatever, and it kind of leads me to stop [posting him]," the Golden Globes nominee continued. "The more attention I've gotten lately and the more in the public I've become, the less I've posted about my child, because I don't think it's fair to put my child online."

Keoghan added, "Because I reigned that in, people draw a narrative and go, 'Absent father, s**t, deadbeat dad,' and more disgusting things I wouldn't even repeat. Just the audacity of some people, man, it sickens me. It makes me furious." Saying that "these people have no indication" of what he's like as a dad, the Irish actor noted, "I ain't going to feed them more material...they don't deserve that."

Keoghan revealed in a January interview with GQ that his son Brando was born during the production of "Saltburn". "It was probably the best time of my life, to be quite fair," Keoghan said at the time. "Havin' a baby boy and leadin' a movie."

Elsewhere on "The Louis Theroux Podcast", the boyfriend of Sabrina Carpenter talked about his childhood and his mom, who died from addiction when he was only 12. "She was just unable to look after us," he recalled. "My father wasn't there, and so we got taken into care and no one knew about this. I think she was too embarrassed to tell my granny, and so no one knew that's when we went through all that. All the different homes."
