AceShowbiz - Frank Catania, 59, and Brittany Mattessich, 34, were set to marry on November 9 on Captiva Island in Florida. However, after assessing the damage caused by the back-to-back hurricanes, they made the difficult decision to postpone their nuptials until March 29, 2025.

Hurricane Helene, which made landfall as a Category 4 storm on September 26, caused significant damage to the island, including filling pools with sand and damaging the golf course and other areas where the ceremony and reception were to be held. Hurricane Milton, which made landfall on October 9, further exacerbated the damage.

"We held out hope that our wedding could go on as planned," said Frank. "But after Milton, we realized that it was better off for us to reschedule... It gives the resort ample time to repair the resort back to perfect condition."

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star initially hesitated to tell Mattessich about the postponement but was relieved by her reaction. "She took it much better than I expected," he said. "She would much rather reschedule for another date... and give the resort enough time to repair."

The couple, who initially chose Captiva Island for its "very special meaning" as Frank's mother's favorite vacation spot, wanted their wedding to be a "vacation" for themselves and their guests. They have booked houses on the beach to accommodate their guests and plan to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.

"We are putting no pressure on our guests to have to be anywhere other than the ceremony and reception," said Frank. "The rest of the time they are free to enjoy themselves as they want."

Frank and Mattessich got engaged in October 2023 after a long friendship that eventually turned romantic. They are excited to start this new chapter in their lives, albeit with a slight delay due to the unforeseen circumstances.
