AceShowbiz - French soccer superstar Kylian Mbappe has vehemently denied rape allegations made against him. This comes as Swedish authorities announced the opening of an investigation into the woman's claims.
The BBC reported that Mbappe, 25, is the subject of a Swedish police investigation into an alleged rape in Stockholm on October 10 at a hotel in central Stockholm.
Mbappe responded to the allegations on social media, writing "FAKE NEWS!!!!" in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He also hinted that the allegations might be related to an upcoming hearing with his former team, Paris Saint-Germain, over unpaid wages. "It's becoming so predictable, on the eve of the hearing, as if by chance," Mbappe wrote.
Mbappe's attorney, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, expressed astonishment over the allegations and announced plans to file a defamation lawsuit. She emphasized that Mbappé is never alone in situations that could lead to risky behaviors and that any possibility of wrongdoing on his part is ruled out.
Swedish prosecutors have confirmed the investigation into a suspected rape but have not identified a suspect. Media reports, citing anonymous sources, have linked Mbappé to the incident.
Mbappe's representatives have dismissed the accusations as "totally false" and "slanderous rumors." They stated that the player will not tolerate attacks on his integrity and honor.
Mbappe was in Sweden last week on a private trip with friends and family. The Real Madrid forward has not been selected for France's Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium due to a muscle injury. He is expected to cooperate with the Swedish justice system if directly targeted by the investigation.
Mbappe's former coach, Didier Deschamps, expressed concern about the allegations and urged caution in reporting unverified information.
