AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck would not dare to mess with Jennifer Lopez amid their ongoing divorce. Rumor has it that the Hollywood star has been trying to be careful not to hurt his estranged wife because he's worried she may be putting a hex on him.
Ben and Jen, who has been embracing her spiritual side following the end of their marriage, are said to be hoping to sort it out and get it over with quickly. However, their divorce is predicted to drag out for years as they recently hit a major roadblock when a buyer pulled out of an escrow of their $68 million marital home.
With the heartbreak and the potentially messy situation, the actor/director is reportedly worried that the singer/actress may turn to her spiritual side to solve the matter. "She's shown him some pretty impressive skills over the years as far as predicting certain things and just her ability to manifest stuff," a source tells In Touch of J.Lo's paranormal abilities.
The source elaborates, "She wholeheartedly believes in the supernatural, you just have to watch the movie about her life she wrote and directed to see how into it she is, so it's pretty understandable that Ben is nervous!"
Not helping ease Ben's worry, J.Lo's first husband Ojani Noa "has publicly accused her of casting voodoo hexes on him." He claimed she practices Santeria, a religion that can involve chanting, trance states and animal sacrifices.
"It might sound far-fetched and laughable," the source explains, "but it's got Ben a little spooked because he knows J.Lo believes in that sort of thing and does play around with it."
"He's a lot more superstitious than people think he is," the source continues. "He jokes about wanting to stay on her good side so she doesn’t put a curse on him, but there's definitely a part of him that does believe she might have the power to do something like that."
Another source reveals to the outlet that the estranged pair hope to settle their divorce soon, but it may not happen as they desire. "Part of the reason that Ben agreed to play nice and go to these joint mediations was to try and get things settled as soon as possible," the source says. "But they weren't counting on these setbacks, particularly with the sale of their house."
"They were hoping to unload that quickly but that's just not happening and it's a huge pain because it's going to involve a ton or red tape and essentially until that's sold, they can't settle the divorce," the so-called insider explains, noting, "There's really no telling how long that could delay things."
The source elaborates, "They're still squabbling over all sorts of points in the divorce, particularity the amount she's going to have to pay him, since they didn't have a prenup. There's also a lot of shared assets that still haven't been divided."
"Then you throw in the fact that they've got these mixed feelings about each other still, which has delayed countless meetings because, as you can imagine, it’s pretty hard to walk into a meeting room and negotiate the terms of a split when they've just been all cozy and lovey-dovey the night before," the source adds, before claiming, "The whole situation is a mess and people are predicting this could drag out for many more months, if not years."
