The former 'Weird Al Show' star reacts to the former 'Saturday Night Live' cast member's impersonation of him on the NBC sketch series and shares his thoughts on hosting the show.

AceShowbiz - "Saturday Night Live" has a long-standing tradition of parodying famous figures, but comedian Andy Samberg made sure to get permission before impersonating Weird Al Yankovic. Yankovic, known for his comedic song parodies like "Polka Face" and "Amish Paradise", attended the 2024 Children's Hospital Gala in Los Angeles to honor patients and staff.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Yankovic revealed that Samberg had called him to approve the impersonation, which aired in a 2012 "Saturday Night Live" sketch. Yankovic admitted that while he's never been asked to appear on the show, he would love to host.

"I've often wondered why I haven't been on 'Saturday Night Live' yet, and that's one of the reasons," he said. "But you know, it may still happen. Who knows?"

While Yankovic would prefer to host over being a musical guest, he acknowledges that hosting gives him more room to make mistakes. Despite the potential for errors, several musical guests have successfully performed double duty as hosts, including Paul Simon, Dolly Parton and Dua Lipa.

Yankovic has a special connection to the Los Angeles Children's Hospital, where his wife volunteers as a cuddler. The 2024 Children's Hospital Gala was hosted by Jon Cryer and Lisa Joyner, and attended by celebrities including Meghan Markle, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kaley Cuoco and Demi Lovato, who performed a medley of her hits.
