AceShowbiz - Coldplay's Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran delivered a surprise acoustic performance at the 2024 Global Citizen Festival in New York, showcasing their musical chemistry and Martin's commitment to the humanitarian event.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who has been the festival's curator since 2015, brought out Ed Sheeran for a surprise performance on September 28, 2024. Sheeran took the lead on a rendition of Coldplay's "Yellow", while Martin accompanied him on electric piano. The duo then performed "Shape of You", followed by a spirited version of "Viva La Vida". Sheeran also sang "Thinking Out Loud" with Martin on piano.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Martin, who was not scheduled to perform, joined Sheeran on stage. Gayle King introduced the duo as her "new favorite boy band sensation, Ed and Chris." Martin revealed that Coldplay plans to release only 12 "proper albums" before disbanding, with their 10th, "Moon Music", set for release on October 4, 2024.

Meanwhile, Sheeran has demonstrated a knack for surprises. In the upcoming second season of "Limitless with Chris Hemsworth", the actor showed off his newfound drumming skills onstage with Sheeran. The docuseries explores Hemsworth's journey after discovering his increased risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and his efforts to combat it.
