AceShowbiz - YFN Lucci is not dead despite report stating otherwise. The incarcerated hip-hop artist found himself in the center of nasty social media rumor that claimed he had been killed in prison, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
Lucci's attorney Drew Findling, who represented him in his RICO trial, told TMZ on Wednesday, September 18 that his client is alive and well in jail. Additionally, rapper FredRarrii brushed off the death rumor by posting a recent video call with the Atlanta native to his Instagram account.
"Free My N***a. The Wait Is Almost Over Myboy !!" FredRarrii wrote in the caption of the Wednesday post. He added, "Stop Believing Everything Yall See Myboy Is Safe In Good Hands!! He One Of Them Ones #GOD Got His Hands On. Free Myboy @yfnlucci."
Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Lamar Bennett, became trending on platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday afternoon after the BlogSpot claimed that he passed away in prison. Social media users further spread the false post despite no reliable sources, leading fans to express their concerns.
In May 2021, Lucci was among twelve people charged in a 105-count RICO indictment filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. He faced charges including racketeering, violating the state's anti-gang law and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The Atlanta Police Department alleged that the 33-year-old was a member of a faction of the Bloods.
After his attorney initially claimed that the rapper was innocent of all charges against him, he accepted a plea bargain and pleaded guilty on January 23 of this year. In the same month, he was sentenced to ten years in prison and ten years of probation. His jail time was counted as time served.
