Edgar Barrera leads this year's Latin Grammy nominations list while Bad Bunny, Karol G, and Shakira are among the musicians who score multiple nods at the upcoming event.

For the second consecutive year, Mexican hitmaker Edgar Barrera tops the list of nominees for the Latin Grammy Awards. On Tuesday morning, Barrera received nine nominations for the 2024 annual ceremony, with nods in major categories like songwriter of the year, producer of the year, and song of the year.
His work is prominently featured on many standout tracks, including Karol G's "Mi Ex TenÃa Razón," Shakira and Grupo Frontera's "(Entre Paréntesis)," and the Maluma and CarÃn León collaboration "Según Quién."
Barrera's competition is fierce with superstars Karol G and Bad Bunny trailing closely behind with eight nominations each. Karol G's album "Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season)" and Bad Bunny's "Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana" have also been recognized in top categories. Other significant contenders for album of the year include Shakira's "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" and Juan Luis Guerra's "Radio Güira."
The 2024 Latin Grammys marks its 25th anniversary with the inclusion of a new field dedicated to electronic music and two new categories: best Latin electronic music performance and best contemporary Mexican music album.
This expansion reflects the genre's growing influence and includes a diverse group of nominees such as Ale Acosta, Valeria Castro, Bizarrap, and Shakira. For the best contemporary Mexican music album, the candidates are Natanael Cano, DannyLux, Grupo Frontera, CarÃn León, Michelle Maciel, and Peso Pluma.
Best new artist remains one of the most eagerly anticipated categories each year. The nominees for 2024 cover a wide spectrum of rising talent from around the globe, including Latin Mafia, Darumas, and Ela Taubert. This year's nominations feature a rich mix of genres and styles, underscored by the international reach and cultural depth of Latin music.
In addition to Barrera's nine nominations, other artists with multiple nods include Keityn with six, and Juan Luis Guerra, Feid, Kany GarcÃa, CarÃn León, and Kali Uchis each with four. Shakira, among others, received three nominations, further emphasizing her outstanding contributions to the Latin music scene.
The 25th annual Latin Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from Miami on Thursday, November 14, starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Univision, Galavisión, and ViX. The ceremony promises to celebrate the vibrant and ever-evolving landscape of Latin music, showcasing the broad talent and creativity of its artists.
