AceShowbiz - Aubrey O'Day has spoken up after Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was arrested in New York. Celebrating the outcome of months-long investigation into allegations of sex trafficking, sexual abuse and harassment against the rapper, the singer feels that justice is finally served for all accusers.
The former Danity Kane member took to her Instagram page on Monday, September 16 to express her relief over Diddy's arrest. "The purpose of Justice is to provide an ending and allow us the space to create a new chapter. Women never get this," she wrote on her Story.
However, that changed with Diddy's arrest on Monday. "I feel validated. Today is a win for women all over the world, not just me," the reality television personality added. "Things are finally changing."
As reported earlier, Diddy was taken into federal custody on Monday night, September 16 in Manhattan after a grand jury indictment. Homeland Security reportedly swooped into a midtown hotel on late Monday where Diddy was staying and they arrested him. Unconfirmed reports claimed the feds were searching his hotel room. He was subsequently taken to the FBI Field Office in Manhattan.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the arrest was initially scheduled for Tuesday, but something happened that caused the feds to move in a day earlier. However, the charges were not immediately known.
Following Diddy's arrest, his attorney Marc Agnifilo said in a statement, "We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney's Office."
"Sean 'Diddy' Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the black community," the statement read. "He is an imperfect person but he is not a criminal."
The statement added, "To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court."
Although she has never filed a lawsuit against Diddy, Aubrey has spoken up against her former mentor. In September 2023, she revealed that she and other previous Bad Boy artists were asked to sign NDAs prohibiting them from criticizing Combs or his label. Aubrey said she encouraged her fellow bandmates to reject the agreement, believing it was unfair and exploitative.
On the other hand, her former bandmate Dawn Richard recently sued Diddy, accusing him of sexual assault and inhumane treatment. She also claimed she witnessed him physically abuse his ex Cassie multiple times.
In response to Dawn's lawsuit, Diddy's attorney Erica Wolff said in a statement issed on September 11, "Mr. Combs is shocked and disappointed by this lawsuit. In an attempt to rewrite history, Dawn Richard has now manufactured a series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a pay day -- conveniently timed to coincide with her album release and press tour."
She added, "If Ms. Richard had such a negative experience with Making the Band and Danity Kane, she would not have chosen to continue working directly with Mr. Combs for Dirty Money, nor would she have returned for the Making the Band reboot in 2020 or agreed to be featured on 'The Love Album' last year. It's unfortunate that Ms. Richard has cast their 20-year friendship aside to try and get money from him, but Mr. Combs is confidently standing on truth and looks forward to proving that in court."
