AceShowbiz - Terry Crews, host of "America's Got Talent," has shared that his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, has experienced three miscarriages. The 56-year-old actor reflected on the emotional impact of losing a child following the show's semi-finals on September 11.
"Me and my wife, we know what it's like to lose a child," Crews said to PEOPLE. "We've had three miscarriages." He spoke of how Sky Elements' drone performance, which depicted a story about losing a child, resonated with him deeply.
Crews and his wife, who have been married since 1989, have five children together. The actor said that he and Rebecca turn to each other for support during difficult times. "One thing I do is music," he explained. "I sit in a room and listen to music and it helps me process... all the things I'm feeling."
He also emphasized the importance of open communication with his wife, "We have really, really nice long, deep conversation. Turn the TV off, turn the phone off and let's just talk it through."
Crews discussed the challenges he faced in coping with his wife's miscarriages. He admitted that he turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms, including starting fights with his wife and taking out his anger on his children. However, he has found strength in his relationship with Rebecca and in music.
Despite the heartbreak they have experienced, Crews remains optimistic. "And it's amazing what that does... It really, truly, you turn around an hour later you're like, 'Wow, I can handle anything,' " he said.
