AceShowbiz - Nikki Garcia, formerly known as Nikki Bella, has filed for divorce from her husband, Artem Chigvintsev, after his arrest on a felony domestic violence charge. The former WWE star is requesting sole legal and physical custody of their four-year-old son, Matteo.
Garcia cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation, which she listed as August 29, the day of Chigvintsev's arrest. She is open to granting Chigvintsev visitation rights but has requested that spousal support not be awarded to either party.
According to TMZ, Chigvintsev was booked into the Napa County Jail for corporal injury to a spouse after police responded to a 911 call about a medical emergency at their home. Injuries were observed on the alleged victim, though their identity has not been released. The couple reportedly had an argument before his arrest.
Chigvintsev, 42, posted a heartfelt anniversary message to Garcia three days before his arrest while sources close to the couple claim he is desperately trying to reconcile after being dropped from the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars."
Garcia has been seen without her wedding ring and has reportedly consulted with an attorney. Her twin sister, Brie Garcia, is reportedly urging her to leave Chigvintsev.
Following her divorce filing, Garcia has issued a brief statement through her rep, asking for respect for her family.
