AceShowbiz - Chester Bennington's son has opened up about the death threats he received from Linkin Park fans. Jaime Bennington claimed that he got "awful" messages from the devotees after calling out the band over its new vocalist.
On Monday, September 9, the 28-year-old made use of Instagram Stories to reveal that he intended to attend Linkin Park's reunion concert in Los Angeles, California, which will be held on Wednesday, September 11. However, he expressed his concern about his own safety. On the reason why, he said, "There are a lot of people who do not like me."
Jaime went on to explain, "There are a lot of people saying some real awful s**t right now to me. To be honest, I don't think I feel safe going to the show under general admission because I don't know who I'm around. I don't know who would recognize me or take it upon themselves to respond to me in an aggressive manner when I'm just there to see the show. But I do need to see it."
Jaime further stated, "The audience themselves could be unsafe for me. ... I do feel it's necessary to acknowledge the severity of my situation, the ways in which people choose to interact with me. So many of these Linkin Park fans who will be attending have been cruel, unusual and aggressive."
"You're coming over to my posts and my livestreams and telling me to kill myself, that I'm awful, that my father doesn't appreciate me," he continued. Referring to his late father Chester, he added, "What are you talking about? You didn't give a f**k when he died. If you did, you would understand what the problem is."
The Stories came after Jaime slammed Linkin Park for hiring Emily Armstrong as Chester's replacement. He took to Instagram to express his disapproval of the band's current lineup, stressing on Emily's ties to Scientology and convicted rapist Danny Masterson.
