AceShowbiz - On September 19, Oprah Winfrey will host "Unite for America", a livestream event aimed at galvanizing support for Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid. The event will bring together a coalition of pro-Harris affinity groups, including Win With Black Women, Cat Ladies for Kamala, Win With Black Men, White Dudes for Harris, Swifties for Kamala and many others.
Winfrey will host approximately 400 in-person voters during the event, which will be livestreamed on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Twitch and Instagram. The goal is to serve as a "call to action" to register voters and build support in battleground states ahead of the November election.
"Unite for America" is inspired by the success of previous virtual fundraisers for Harris. Win With Black Women hosted a massive Zoom call on the night Biden dropped out of the race, attracting over 44,000 participants and raising $1.6 million in four hours. Subsequent Zoom calls organized by other pro-Harris groups have also drawn significant crowds and donations.
Winfrey's involvement is a major boost for Harris' campaign. The talk show host and media mogul has historically remained out of the political spotlight, but she has endorsed Biden and Harris in the past. "I cannot think of anyone better to host this event than Oprah Winfrey, who has brought Americans of different generations, backgrounds, and experiences together in conversation for decades," said Jotaka Eaddy, founder of Win With Black Women.
