AceShowbiz - Angel Reese is not pregnant and not faking her injury. The professional basketball player was hit with pregnancy rumors after she announced that she would be taking a break from the remainder of her rookie season due wrist injury.
Catching wind of the wild speculation, the WNBA star took to her TikTok page to debunk the rumors and share more details of her injury. "I'm not pregnant. That was never a thing," she said in a video posted on Sunday, September 8, flashing her flat stomach.
Attempting to make things "crystal clear" about her personal life, the 22-year-old stated that she's currently not dating anyone despite recent romance rumors. "I don't have a man to have kids," she said. "I am 22 with no kids," she added, before stressing, "That's not gonna be a thing anytime soon."
In the video, Angel also revealed how she injured her hand. "I fell on my hind. It is a small crack in my bone," she told her followers. While she was given two options to not have surgery or to have surgery, she decided to go under the knife after her doctor told her the risks of not having a surgery.
"The risk of not having surgery, I could literally arthritis at 22 years old. That wasn't an option," she explained. "The bone could literally crack and completely shattered. Now it's like a hairline, not even that big. In long term, I could've literally not played anymore."
The Chicago Sky player said she's getting surgery on Tuesday, September 8. Afterwards, she will be wearing hard cast for four weeks. "And then I'm gonna be in soft cast for two weeks that is removable and then I'm back," she added. "So six weeks, I'll be back to do my own thing, normal life."
In the meantime, Angel said she will still be doing her modelling activities and filming her podcast. Admitting that this is not something she expected, she appeared to choke up a bit as saying, "God's timing is not always my timing." She went on asking her fans, "Wish me luck for surgery on Tuesday."
Angel made a major announcement about her season-ending injury on Saturday. In a statement posted on her Instagram page, she wrote, "What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol."
Despite the setback, Angel emphasized her determination to continue making an impact in the WNBA. "Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so," she stated.
Angel also vowed to continue supporting her teammates from the bench. "You'll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon!" she concluded.
Shortly after the announcement, many took to social media to speculate that Angel might be pregnant and that the injury is just a cover. "She's pregnant and the injury was just a cover," one person wrongfully claimed.
"Angel Reese gotta be pregnant cause when tf did she get hurt," a second person said. A third wrote, "She's pregnant. Congrats to Angel Reese and Jalen Duren." Another troll added, "BREAKING: Angel Reese, it's a boy! Congratulations."
