Reese's journey hasn't been without challenges. She has faced criticism regarding her spending habits after saying her $73,439 WNBA salary was insufficient to cover her $8,000 monthly rent.

"I just hope y'all know, the WNBA don't pay my bills at all," Reese previously shared on social media. "I'm living beyond my means!" she humorously noted.

Following her big milestones, she quipped, "They said 'she need to cover up' so I went cover on VOGUE. They said 'she can't afford her rent' so I went & bought a house."

Besides her basketball income, Reese has also been hustling. She's successfully diversified her income through endorsements with brands like Reebok, Hershey's Reese's Pieces, Beats by Dr. Dre, and Khloe Kardashian's Good American. She also hosts her own podcast, "Unapologetically Angel", where she celebrates her accomplishments and shares personal stories.

In January 2025 before buying her own house, Reese fulfilled a major personal goal by paying off her mother's mortgage. She surprised her mom on the latter's birthday during an emotional episode of her podcast.

She told her mom, "Before we sing 'Happy Birthday,' you said that if your mortgage was paid off that you would retire or you won't work." Reese emphasized that this was her biggest goal in life, to support and retire her mother.
