AceShowbiz - In a recent interview, singer Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, revealed that her ventures into acting have provided her with a much-needed break from her stage identity.
Frangipane described her previous sense of weariness towards her Halsey persona as akin to actors who experience burnout from playing the same character for too long. "I always compare Halsey to "Grey's Anatomy", where after 25 seasons, even the cast members get tired of playing their roles," she said. "I felt a similar way about Halsey, which raised existential questions about why I felt like I was merely playing a character."
Despite being credited as Halsey in her acting projects, such as "Americana" (2023) and "Maxxxine" (2024), her performances have allowed her to portray characters separate from herself. Acting, she explained, has given her the opportunity to step outside her singer persona and contribute to someone else's vision.
"It was refreshing to be new at something, to be part of a community, and to collaborate," Frangipane said. "Being a solo artist is a lonely venture, and it was nice to share the creative process with others."
Additionally, Frangipane spoke about her upcoming album, "The Great Impersonator", which is scheduled for release on October 25. She also discussed her connection to Britney Spears and how Spears' experiences have inspired her own music.
Through her acting journey, Halsey has embraced the opportunity to shed her singer persona and grow as an artist on a different level. By stepping into new roles and collaborating with others, she has found a sense of freedom and artistic fulfillment that has enriched her creative endeavors both inside and outside the music industry.
