The rapper and legendary hip-hop hype man had 'an energy drink,' which he had never drunk before, ahead of taking the stage at Town Center Park in Hamden, CT.

AceShowbiz - Fatman Scoop reportedly did an usual thing before he collapsed onstage and eventually passed away. It has been revealed that the rapper had "an energy drink," which he had never drunk before, ahead of his performance on Friday, August 30.

Sharron Elkabas, CEO of Freeman's public relations firm MN2S, claimed that the artist drank a beverage containing stimulant compounds on the night he passed out onstage. Sharron told The Hollywood Reporter of the late star, "He had an energy drink before going on stage. He never drank energy drinks, but he did before this show."

Fatman Scoop, born Isaac Freeman III, collapsed while performing at Town Center Park in Hamden, CT on Friday night. Footage obtained by TMZ showed someone appearing to perform CPR on him behind the DJ booth before he was rushed to the hospital.

Authorities said they were dispatched for a medical emergency at 8:33 P.M. Mayor Lauren Garrett later confirmed via Facebook, "He is being transported by ambulance to the hospital. We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers."

Sadly, Fatman Scoop didn't survive. On Saturday morning, his family announced his death, but no cause of death is given as of now. In a statement, the family referred to him as "a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life" who, on top of being a "world class performer" was also "a father, brother, uncle and a friend."

His wife Shanda Freeman later broke her silence on her husband's death by sharing heartfelt tributes on social media. In a poignant post on Instagram, she wrote, "We made history. We were the FIRST. I'm heartbroken. I love you. Always."

In a separate post, Shanda thanked everyone who had shown support for Isaac and herself. She praised Fatman Scoop as an "ICON and LEGEND" and spoke of his passion for helping others. "He was an ICON and LEGEND and so many people love him. He was a pure heart and loved reaching back and helping others," she wrote.

Just hours before his sudden passing, Fatman Scoop celebrated the release of a collaboration with musician Dyce Payso called "Let It Go".
